Chantilly Estates Subdivision
(Established in 1947)
FCPS is proposing (scenario 2 and 3) to rezone our long-established (est. 1947) small 58 single-family low-density non-HOA Chantilly Estates Subdivision, that has been zoned for Chantilly HS since its establishment in 1972, to Westfield HS. This rezone does not appear to align with FCPS scenario goals or the School Board 8130.8 Boundary Policy. This places our small subdivision (yield avg less than 10 HS kids) along with Chantilly Park Condos (yields avg 3-5 HS kids and is NOT adjacent to us) into two separate isolated attendance islands that is disguised by miles of bordering commercial sector properties!
FCPS has designated Chantilly Estates inside Student Planning Area (SPA) 3411.
Our long-established subdivision is being displaced outside of our stable CHS school pyramid. Lees Corner Elementary and Franklin MS are not part of the Westfield HS pyramid. We would no longer belong to any school pyramid. Newer built neighborhoods closer to Westfield HS will remain at CHS.
New residential communities in the Westfield HS pyramid are exploding, while Chantilly HS pyramid new development remains mostly stagnant. The FCPS Residential Development Dashboard ‘Potential Student Yield’ reflects substantial high # of students for the Westfield Pyramid, while CHS is low.
The rezone would place our small neighborhood into an isolated non-contiguous attendance island.
The closest Westfield HS neighborhoods are est. 3 miles away, while our 3 adjoining neighborhoods and surrounding neighborhoods would remain at CHS.
We are located right behind the Lowes at Sully Shopping Center.
Our children would pass newer built CHS neighborhoods and traverse a large commercial sector traveling est. 4 miles to Westfield HS, while our beloved Chantilly HS is est. 1.5 miles away.
